The fourth edition of the True Italian Pizza Week Deutschland is back! Berlin, Augsburg, Bielefeld, Bochum, Braunschweig, Cologne, Dortmund, Dresden, Duisburg, Düsseldorf, Essen, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Hanover, Karlsruhe, Leipzig, Munich, Münster, Nuremberg, Oberhausen, Rostock, Stuttgart and Wuppertal: the event will occur simultaneously in all these cities by involving over 300 pizzerias. This makes it the biggest and most important event regarding pizza in Germany.

The project was born to celebrate pizza and the craft of pizza-making, which are counted as intangible heritage of UNESCO since 2017. The aim is to show how, even in a foreign country as Germany, the quality of pizza has increased more and more during the years. Beyond the Master Pizzaiolo’s craft, in order to guarantee a well-risen and digestible dough, some tricks are fundamental: high quality ingredients and why not a sparkle of creativity and experimentation.

During the Pizza Week, thanks to this exact winning blend, you will have the chance to taste very specials pizzas: from the Pizza del Pescatore with black squid ink dough and crab tails, sea asparagus and dill to the Pins Sicula with diced tomatoes, ricotta cheese flakes, eggplants, basil; from the Pizza with San Marzano DOP tomato sauce, Black Angus beef bresaola, Parmigiano Reggiano DOP matured 24 months, cherry tomatoes and fiordilatte to the mouthwatering Pizza with tomato sauce, meatballs and parmesan sauce. In short, there will be something for all tastes!

True Italian Pizza Week 2023: How it works

The True Italian Pizza Week will be held from the 14th to the 20th of September in selected pizzerias in various cities all around Germany. To participate, it won’t be necessary to have a ticket or reserve a table (although it is recommended), but it will be enough to go to the participating pizzerias and request the event’s menu. Each pizzeria will in fact have the same offer: an authentic Italian pizza (there is always a choice between two flavors, one of which is always vegan or vegetarian) along with an Aperol Spritz for only €15.

To find out which pizzerias will participate in the event, and which special pizzas they will offer for the occasion, maps will be available for each city, both in paper format (available in all participating restaurants) and online (downloadable at the links below). Finally, there will be a Google Map to help you move more easily between one pizzeria and another.

True Italian Pizza Week, organizers and partners

True Italian Pizza Week is organized by the Berlin Italian agency Berlin Italian Communication as part of the True Italian project and with the collaboration of Campari Deutschland. The event is sponsored by the City of Naples.

True Italian is a network that aims to preserve authentic Italian restaurants in Germany through the trademark (registered with the Deutsches Patent und Markenamt and the EUIPO) and a series of initiatives and events throughout the year. True Italian are all those ambassadors of the Italian cuisine who, starting from the choice of ingredients, daily demonstrate their commitment to spreading good eating. Let’s be clear: when it comes to True Italian the focus is not the nationality of the cook/manager or owner, but the approach to cooking. Originality of recipes and quality ingredients: these are the two key criteria that guided us in choosing the pizzerias involved in True Italian Pizza Week 2023.
