1 week, 32 Italian restaurants, 15€ for a pasta specialty and a drink: the True Italian Pasta Week 2022 is just around the corner.

Gnocchi al tegamino with guanciale and walnuts served with taleggio cheese cream; Buckwheat pizzoccheri with dandelion, farm salty ricotta, and garden herbs; Lasagna with ricotta and truffles; Tagliatelle with yellow tomatoes cream, stracciatella, and lard of Colonnata or anchovies; Fresh pappardelle on pumpkin cream and amaretto breadcrumbs; Spaghetti “arriminati” with cauliflower, anchovies, raisins, and breadcrumbs; Gnocchi with pecorino cheese, pepper, and guanciale with pumpkin cream…These and many others are the specialties to taste during the True Italian Pasta week, from the 14th to the 20th of November 2022.

The event, organized by True Italian, aims to celebrate one of the main symbols of Italian cuisine par excellence: pasta. This year 32 restaurants, around Berlin, will be offering two custom-made original recipes for this year’s True Italian Pasta week!

True Italian Pasta Week: the event

True Italian Pasta Week is a Berlin Italian Communication initiative organized within the True Italian project. The event takes place on the occasion of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, during which 32 of the best Italian restaurants in Berlin will offer a pasta dish (to be chosen between two particular recipes, including at least one vegetarian or vegan option) and an Aperol Spritz or a glass of wine for only 15 €. The offer will be valid in all participating restaurants (full list of restaurants at the bottom of this article) and to join you will only have to go to one of them and ask for the specialties of the event. Partners of the event are AperolMETRO, Acqua Panna & S. Pellegrino, and the hotel Art Hotel Commercianti in Bologna. Indeed, by joining the event you will have the opportunity to win a stay in Bologna and try the best Italian handmade pasta. You just have to participate in the contest on True Italian Food’s Instagram page, try your luck!

The kind of pasta you can taste during the event

 The aim of the event is to celebrate pasta in all its many forms and flavours. From the classic homemade pasta made with eggs and flour – like pappardelle, trenette, lasagne – to more colorful and creative pastas – like pistachio gnocchi, spaghetti alla chitarra with squid or spinach macaroni. Finally, there are many recipes that pay homage to the many culinary traditions of the Bel Paese: Buckwheat pizzoccheri from Valtellina, maccheroni al ferretto from Calabria, canederli from Trentino, cavatelli from Lucania, pumpkin ravioli and amaretti from Mantua.

Today, Germany is one of the most important export markets for Italy. Current data show a 20% increase in demand and consumption of pasta in Germany since the beginning of the pandemic. Contributing to this trend has been the ease of preparation of the product and the external setting in which Germany was already a great admirer of genuine Italian cuisine. True Italian Pasta Week: the map

Locating the restaurants taking part in the event is extremely simple thanks to a map inspired by Berlin’s public transport system. The map shows all the restaurants area by area with their addresses, specialties, and drinks on offer (Aperol Spritz or glass of wine).

The map is available both as a downloadable PDF and as Google Maps, and also as a printed version as a flyer that can be found in the participating restaurants or at the True Italian office at Gryphiusstr. 26, Berlin Friedrichshain.

The True Italian project

True Italian is a network that wants to preserve authentic Italian restaurants in Berlin through the trademark (registered at the Deutsches Patent und Markenamt and the EUIPO) and a series of initiatives and events throughout the year. The project is carried out by Berlin Italian Communication. True Italians are all those ambassadors of Italian cuisine who, starting from the choice of the ingredients, demonstrate their commitment to spreading good food every day. Let’s be clear: when it comes to True Italian, the focus is not on the nationality of the chef/manager or owner, but on the approach to cooking. Original recipes and high-quality ingredients are the two key rules of True Italian restaurants.
