True Italian Food News: our must-go for the weekend!

This week draws to an end and, just like every week, the weekend means it’s time for our beloved Food News. Waiting for the Pistachio Street Food Festival, which will take place next weekend, discover all the new True Italian specialities Berlin has to offer to comfort you on this rainy weekend!

Tagliolini with truffled burrata cheese

For truffle lovers, Spazio Berlin has a gift for you: tagliolini with truffled burrata cheese! This recipe combines the culinary traditions of central and southern Italy, mixing black truffle, an extremely popular ingredient in Umbria, and burrata, a typical Apulian cheese. The pasta used for this specialty is tagliolini, a fresh egg pasta similar to tagliatelle, but thinner, which better fits the texture of the sauce. As a topping, a sprinkling of black pepper and grated black truffle. Don’t miss this treat!

New tasty Tuscan pecorino cheese

Another specialty from central Italy can be found at the Italian supermarket and bistro Centro Italia: a Tuscan pecorino cheese. In line with Tuscan tradition, this pecorino is aged in a crust with straw and hay, which enhance its smell and taste. It is prepared exclusively with sheep’s milk and is suitable for a variety of uses: plain with jams and honey or sliced into thin flakes as a dressing in salads or on top of meat carpaccio, as well as grated for gratinéed pasta or baked vegetables. Go and try this seasoned cheese with a unique taste!

The Grain’s new Pizza Quattro Formaggi

The Grain also has a cheese-based new-entry for you: Pizza Quattro Formaggi, where cheese features as main character. This pizza has no tomato sauce, which is replaced by a base of ricotta cream, smoked provola, taleggio and freshly grated parmigiano reggiano. On top, the savoury taste of cheese is balanced by a delicious apricot jam, plus walnuts and, of course, basil and olive oil. Try this unique mix of traditional Italian flavours!
